What We Do
IRC professionals also provide training, feedback, and expertise to JTDC staff in assessing and managing cases and situations because we believe quality mental health hinges on continuity, teamwork, and a multi-faceted approach.
Our work today is focused on providing services to the Cook County Juvenile Temporary Detention Center (JTDC), where, since 2007, we have been responsible for providing all mental health care to approximately 300 youths.
The IRC team at JTDC has grown from a handful of staff to more than 30 professionals. We work with the detained youths providing initial evaluation and psychological and psychiatric assessments and care. We also assist JTDC staff with behavioral management issues. Whenever possible, we involve the families in our efforts. IRC professionals also provide training, feedback, and expertise to JTDC staff in assessing and managing cases and situations because we believe quality mental health hinges on continuity, teamwork, and a multi-faceted approach.
